GAFBO

Back in June Dave was approached by a bearded guy and handed a flyer.  “Join us….”

This weekend, Dave and I attended GAFBO‘s Beard and Moustache Competition with our friends Dante and Kelly the Ambassador to Michigan.  We saw some pretty crazy facial hair and got to talk to people from all over the midwest.  We also learned that there is some serious bad blood between Ann Arbor and Lansing, even outside of the sports community, so I’ll have to keep that in mind when talking to locals in the future.

Dave entered the Business Beard competition, Dante entered Full Beard with Styled Moustache, and third place in Ladies Most Realistic was won by yours truly.   We were all a little disappointed that the most points went to folks with costumes to accompany their beards, which we thought was a little unfair since it was not specified in the rules.   Just something to remember for next year.

Did I say I’m from AA? I meant Tennessee!

The next day the Ambassador suggested we eat at Fleetwood Diner, which may become our new breakfast place.  They have all the regular breakfast things, but for those days when you feel guilty ordering a huge plate of grease for your first meal they have Hippie Hash: toast, two eggs, optional meat, and hashbrowns, covered in onions, peppers, tomatoes, cucumbers, mushrooms, and feta cheese.  Perfect!
